New Year's Ensemble

So I have a vision for my New Year's outfit. The only problem is that I planned on making almost all of it, and I haven't started yet.

I have had this pattern and the material for it for a while and I think this is a great excuse to make it. I am using McCall's pattern M5881 (I am using the dress shown in red). I am making it in a deep purple stretch sateen fabric.
I am going to pair it with the fabulous vintage boots that my FI bought me for Christmas. I haven't decided which pair yet though. They're both just a little bit too small, but I am bound and determined to make them work. He bought them from Etsy seller Lucy&Ricky.

Welcome/ First Post

My Etsy shop has been up and running for a couple of weeks now, so I thought I would get a blog started to keep my shoppers informed of new products and specials. Also I would like to show off some of the amazing stuff I find from other artists on Etsy. I am sure I will also have several posts about all of the cute stuff (and not so cute stuff) that my six kitties do.

So I thought I would start out by introducing myself for those who do not already know me. My name is Safiya, and I am from Columbia, South Carolina. Obviously, I like to sew and make stuff. Besides that though, I also enjoy dancing, although I don't do it as much now as I used to. I am a graduate student and working towards my masters in Statistics.
I am currently planning my wedding for this upcoming May. I am marrying my best friend and I am absolutely thrilled about marrying him even if I'm not thrilled about planning a wedding.
We have six (yes six) kitties. They are all very special to me, and make each day so much more enjoyable. I will admit that trying to sew/craft with cats though is a bit of a challenge. I will do a post later introducing all the kitties, since I am sure they will make many appearances in this blog.
